BANANA NUT MARTINI
When I first moved to Los Angeles, a good friend convinced me to go on a blind date. Against my better judgment, I agreed. We met at a Tapas bar, and although I don’t remember the name of the bar, or the name of my date, I do remember this drink. I did my best to re-create it at home and other drink recipes. This is what I came up with for the banana nut martini.
Serves 1
3 ounces good vodka
3 ounces banana liqueur (Hiram Walker)
Splash of Frangelico liqueur*
Banana slices, for garnish
Pour the vodka, banana liqueur and a splash of Frangelico into a cocktail shaker. Tumble in a handful of ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled martini glass and float a banana slice on top.
*Go lightly with the Frangelico. The flavor is intense and has a tendency to overpower the drink. You just want a “hint” of the flavor in the background.
